Mental illness is one such topic that is very less talked about and there is also very less awareness relating to mental health which poses great dangers in ones life and with time mental illness goes unnoticed. Ever since the lockdown has started worldwide due to the outbreak of the pandemic there has been lot of instances when people reported serious cases relating to mental health and there has also been a sharp increase in the cases. In order to create awareness relating to, mental health, Dangal an Entertainment channel, has brought before its viewers a digital campaign on mental health to create awareness on the subject and as well promote a positive well being as a whole. Though mental illness has been on the rise in recent years, this ongoing lockdown where people could not socialize or engage in different activities has created an adverse impact on the mental well being of Individuals.

This can be very well understood from the fact that as per a recent study conducted on more than 800 people living with mental illness, many of them severely affected and living with diagnoses such as psychosis or borderline personality disorder, revealed that 80% felt that their mental health was worse due to the impact of the coronavirus, with 28% indicating that it was much worse.

The study clearly shows the effect of Lockdown on the mental health of individuals. The campaign launched by Dangal speaks very well of mental illness and how individuals need to fight back when circumstances and times are not in favor and people are more prone to be a victim of mental illness. The campaign urges people to broaden their outlook and try to see things beyond their individual issues. The campaign brings into screen actors from different shows and is broadcasted through digital media and is now live in all social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Arpit Machhar, head of marketing, Enterr10 Television Network, said, “The last couple of months have been very difficult on everyone across the country. We have been witness to unfortunate incidents that are directly related to mental wellness. As a responsible entity within the media and entertainment industry, we felt the onus also rests upon us to spread awareness about mental health and promote a positive outlook among all. We have brought actors together from some of our most popular shows to start this conversation and create awareness on this matter. We are hopeful that this initiative will be lead to many other such conversations that will help people cope and emerge stronger in such times.”
