Indian Startup ‘PURE EV’ Provides Lithium Batteries to Healthcare Tech Startups

PURE EV, an Electric Vehicles Startup, is supplying Lithium batteries to healthcare tech companies that are engaged in fighting against the coronavirus pandemic across India. The batteries are brought to use in medical applications like Ventilators and Robotic Sanitation Devices. The startup under the brand name “PURE LITHIUM is engaged in supplying the batteries for various applications. 

PURE EV’s in-house manufacturing unit is constantly putting an effort to bring innovative applications for Lithium batteries. The primary use of the batteries is in its in-house manufactured electric vehicles which are sold under the brand ‘PURE EV.’

Why PURE LITHIUM  is better than traditional batteries? 

⮚ PURE LITHIUM has lesser weight and is easier when it comes to portability and transportation

⮚ The battery can provide high discharge currents.

⮚ The batteries can work under any environmental conditions with customized casings and insulation

⮚ The batteries have significantly longer charging/ discharging cycles than the standard VRLA batteries

Speaking about these initiatives, Mr. Rohit Vadera, Chief Executive Officer, PURE EV, said, “PURE EV is working with more companies to supply our batteries and we are open to collaborate with more startups working towards medical devices and applications. We want to play a supportive role in healthcare entrepreneurs. The innovative startup ecosystem in the country has to rise to the occasion and develop applications to mitigate the effects of COVID-19.”

The startup  has supplied Lithium batteries to IIT Hyderabad Center for its Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE)-incubated startup Aerobiosys Innovations, which has earned its name in developing  a low-cost, portable, emergency-use ventilator called ‘Jeevan Lite.’ The device is manufactured to offer protection to healthcare providers, as well as is the Internet of Things-enabled and can be operated very easily through a phone app. JCB India Pvt. Ltd. will be manufacturing these ventilators in large quantities. PURE EV, in the same way, has provided Lithium Batteries to Eternal Green Innovations Pvt. Ltd. who are contributing to the field of Robotic Healthcare Tech Devices.

Highlighting the unique capabilities of the startup in Lithium Batteries technology, Dr. Nishanth Dongari, Founder and Managing Director of PURE EV, and Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, said, “We have significant experience in design and development of high-performance Lithium batteries through our constant innovation for EV batteries. We have state-of-the-art facilities for the assembly and testing of the Lithium Battery Packs. In this critical time, we want to extend our best possible support to the healthcare tech industry for their requirements for backup power. The batteries designed by us are extremely useful for robotic applications and have significant advantages in terms of longer life cycles and portability.”

In terms of investment PURE EV, which could raise a fund of USD 35 Million some months ago and be incubated by IIT Hyderabad, it launched its high-speed electric scooter ‘EPluto 7G’ in February 2020. Along with it, It has also established a 40,000-sq.ft. the state-of-the-art facility, which is in the same location as that of IIT Hyderabad,  the main purpose behind it, is for cutting-edge R&D and large scale production of electric vehicles and electric batteries. The company now has a current battery manufacturing capacity of 5 Megawatt hour (Mwh) per month.  PURE EV came into existence in 2016 and was founded by Dr. Nishanth Dongari, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, and is led by Mr. Rohit Vadera,  who is an alumnus of IIT Bombay. The startup aims to continue and collaborate with R&D laboratories of IIT Hyderabad, to work towards providing strong technological support.
