 Indians prefer Online shopping over physical shopping- Deloitte Global Surveys

Deloitte Analytics, has conducted a survey over consumers in the last 90 days and found that Indian consumers prefer Online shopping over physical shopping.

Due to the COVID pandemic, people were restricted to step out even to buy any essentials and were confined to home. During these times, the online shopping sector has seen a boost in their business. According to the survey, people use online mode to buy groceries 54%, household items 49% and medicine 44%.

Apart from this, the demand of electronic gadgets, medicine and books are also witnessing a considerable raise. It is also found that 52% of people spend more time on their mobile internet and 36% in digital entertainment. Automobile sales are also growing as the respondents are still looking to buy vehicles once this is over.

The respondents are also ready to travel in domestic and international flights in the next three months. 56% percent of them are ready to stay at hotels and travel outside home for work and leisure.

“COVID-19 has shifted the focus of Indian consumers towards an online digital experience event as organizations are redefining their business operations to make the last mile delivery seamless and by ensuring safety and hygiene to meet the new expectations of the consumers,” said Porus Doctor, Partner and Leader of Consumer Industry. He also added, “Using online channels, consumer expectations for seamless shopping experience are poised to grow and companies are fast catching up with this eventuality.”
