General Motors CFO Dhivya Suryadevara Bids Adieu To Join Startup Stripe

Dhivya Suryadevara, the chief financial officer at General Motors, is all ready to join Stripe, a start-up in the silicon valley. Dhivya is an Indian American executive who became the first female CFO for General Motors in the year 2018 at the age of 39. Her capabilities made her the most important person for Mary Barra, who was the first woman to lead a major U.S. auto manufacturer.

“Dhivya has been a transformational leader in her tenure as CFO,” said Barra. “She has helped the company strengthen our balance sheet, improve our cost structure, focus on cash generation, and drive the right investments for our future. We wish her every success.”

Stripe developed a rapid payment system that can aid online businesses that have come up in large numbers for every sector during this time of the pandemic. The company is into providing solutions for businesses across the globe which will eventually help them to have a smooth sail during this pandemic. It has been launched across 15 nations around the globe in the past year.

The company is founded by Patrick and John Collison brothers and competes with Square, which is run by Twitter’s Jack Dorsey. The company could gain a value of $36 billion after its latest round of funding which is not very less from GM that is valued at $41.5 billion. Stripe’s books of accounts currently show a $2 billion balance sheet.

Strip’s list of clients for this year shows names like Caviar, Coupa, Just Eat, Mattel, NBC, and Paid. The technology from Stripe had gained a very important place among thousands of small businesses through its broad platform. The startup in April said that its technology could help companies make a sale of $1 billion from the time COVID 19 started spreading in the US.

“I’m very excited to join Stripe at a pivotal time for the company,” Suryadevara said in a prepared statement. “I really enjoy leading complex, large-scale businesses, and I hope to use my skills to help accelerate Stripe’s already steep growth trajectory.”

From Aug 8, John Stapleton will be acting as the chief financial officer for General Motors.
