 Edtech Startup Mento Becomes The New Netflix For Learning

Mento, an online education startup founded by Varun Agarwal, is now making learning a fun process. Their course modules aim to make the learners’ binge-watch the videos just like a Netflix series. Mento offers certificate courses on Filmmaking, Entrepreneurship, Designing, Public Speaking, Music, and many such creative courses. The courses are being taught by leading experts in the respective fields.

Some of the instructors include the OYO fame Nithish Tiwari, Chef Pooja Dhingra, and so on who are best in business. Initially, the company was launched in 2018 as Grades Don’t Matter and after constant testing and analysis it was relaunched in February this year.

Mento offers an easy and fun way of learning and they have an 80 percent rate of completion rate compared to other platforms.“The idea is to make users binge-watch educational content like a television show on Netflix,” said Varun Agarwal.

“We want to remove the stigma of creative courses and want parents to think of these fields as actual career options and not just hobbies. Over the last two years, India has seen a boom in the number of youngsters pursuing creative careers, so we feel the time is right to launch,” added Varun.

The users can access the course through the website or through the mobile app. Each course is charged with Rs 499 or they also have an annual subscription worth Rs 699. With every user can access all the video contents and reference books and at the end of each course, they will get an authenticated certificate.

Their target audience is learners between 18-24 years of age. They promote their brand through Instagram and Facebook without much marketing charges. And due to COVID-19, the number of users has increased on the website and more students are taking up the online courses.
