Mark Zuckerberg to Invest in Indian Startup Eruditus
The Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative which was started by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan is in the final stages of investing in Eruditus, an Indian based online learning startup.
They have earlier launched in another Indian based educational startup Byju’s as the online learning sector is booming in this lockdown. The educational sector has become the most profitable platform as parents are opting online mode to keep their children engaged during this pandemic.
Eruditus was founded in 2010 by Chaitanya Kalipatnapu and Ashwin Damera. The platform offers courses related to data science, digital transformation, banking, finance and leadership skills. They also have collaborated with prestigious foreign universities like Columbia University, Harvard Business School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Eruditus has acquired revenue of $100 Million during this pandemic and has secured a funding of with this funding, the venture plans to extend their service to other countries apart from its existing user base in US and Europe.
The online educational platforms have collectively secured total funding of around $800 Million this year. They have also witnessed a massive increase in usage number of their platforms during this pandemic which would have taken at least two years to achieve if not for the prevailing lockdown scenario.
