Antonio Lucio, CMO of Facebook has decided to quit his position after two years of association with the social media tycoon. Lucio announced that he stepped down from the position to focus on the next and final chapter of his career by focusing on diversity, equality and inclusion campaigns.

Before this, he was working at HP Inc and then joined Facebook in 2018. During his time as the Chief Marketing Officer, he increased Facebook’s Global advertising to make people trust their platform and remove misinformation and privacy issues. He also made sure that the advertising agencies Facebook worked with comprised of more women, people of colour and diverse sexuality to make the workplace open to all sorts of people.

“Given the historical inflection point we are in as a country regarding racial justice, I have decided to dedicate 100% of my time to diversity, inclusion and equity. Although these issues have been core to my purpose for many years and they were an important element of my work, I want to make them my sole focus,” said Antonio in his statement.

He also announced that September 18 would be the last day working for Facebook and they are currently looking for a suitable successor for his position.
