As per industry norms, five-six words are enough to get the ad message across. Although advertisers can push this to a few more words, depending on the length and ease of reading. But as a thumb rule, less is more in Billboard ads! Concision is tough, but long texts and more content will not get read and eventually waste all the efforts and money.
2. Get noticed but don’t be a distraction!
Billboard ads are mostly aimed at car drivers, motorists, cyclists, pedestrians or who so ever is on the roads. As advertisers have just a few seconds to get their message delivered, this marks the importance of short, crisp and attractive ad content. 3. More is good
Every billboard has a score or rating, showing a score between 1 to 100, called Gross Ratings Points. GRP is estimated by multiplying expected audience reach with the frequency of the ad placed. This score is based on the traffic, visibility, location and size of the billboard. If the rating is 60, it suggests that at least 60% of the population in the area would see your billboard ad at least once a day.
If the advertisers have only one billboard, the exposure chances are obviously less as compared to the campaign with ads on four or five billboards.
4. Don’t say, show it
A plane falt billboard it standard, but it doesn’t have to be a norm to be followed. In order to stand out from the crowd, you need to be creative with the billboard ideas. You can go for 3D billboards, or have moving parts in the billboards, or add steam or smell in your fast food billboard ad as ‘Donatos’ did, or maybe a digital billboard.
