By December 2020, 70% Of The Users Will Access The Internet In Their Local Language: Report

WATConsult, India’s leading digital marketing agency has released a report called “Digital, Diverse and Multilingual India.” In this report, it was concluded that by December 2020, 70% of the internet users will access the internet using their native language in India.

The report said that Indian users opt the English language for videos displaying contents related to entertainment, technology, and fashion. Among them, YouTube is the most used application for accessing video content followed by Hotstar and Jiotv. While using social media platforms, one-fourth of the people prefer memes and videos in their local language. Likewise, while using music apps audiences prefer listening to their native and regional languages. Food and educational content are also preferred in their dialects by the people.

“Since India is a diverse country with multiple languages and dialects, we believe that it is extremely important to approach consumers in the languages they prefer. While it is a mammoth challenge to process and train all the data for so many languages, the insights presented in the reports would benefit marketers significantly in chalking their way ahead,” said Heeru Dingra, the CEO of WATConsult.
