Outdoor Advertising India
More often than not we Indians pay little to no attention to the big banners hanging outside our apartments because of a variety of reasons; it maybe be broadcasting a product that might not interest us, the advertiser didn’t work on the right color, designs or language- being an important barrier for successful outdoor advertising in India or maybe the location of the signage was itself not right.
Outdoor advertising which consists of billboards, advertisements in public places, advertisement on public transport etc either makes or breaks the business, reason being the huge involvement of cost that goes into putting up such advertisements in order to engage more and more customers.
Because people, especially those living in urban areas see a plenty of outdoor advertising in India on everyday basis, it is a challenge for advertisers to understand and implement the kind of advertising that people not only see but also remember.
Needless to say that with the evolving smart generation in India, stuck into its phones 24/7, having the capability to access plethora of brands at a fingertip, outdoor advertising should be strategized keeping in mind the temperament, technology and taste and preferences of customers. For example; an outdoor advertisement in India, in form of a signage, in a crowded bus consisting of too much text, requires customers’ efforts to read it. Thus, an average customer, after a tiring day would rather listen to music in bus and ignore the advertisement then read it.
What differentiates a pleasing outdoor advertisement is its ability to catch customer’s attention without requiring much of his/her time and simultaneously connecting with them on something relevant. For example: In India, during Demonetisation, electronic wallet company Paytm, drew a lot of customers into its pocket by advertising with shops and public transports having understood that there’s a dire need of e-payment and that technology has a huge influence on people and is the easy way.
An outdoor advertisement in India can be enticing and profitable, provided it is done the right way keeping in mind its audience and what it wants.
